Luggage carry on / hand luggage for carry on baggage only trips

How much to put in your luggage carry on considering current baggage allowances.

Carry on luggage has never been so important as now with the increasing amount of no checked baggage/carry on only fares and lower then ever carry on baggage allowances travellers have to plan their packing and luggage carry on with greater detail.

The good news is we are here to help.

Luggage Carry On only allowance

The ultimate for the light traveller, only one piece of luggage carry on. As a light traveller I was easily able to spend a week in the Whitsunday islands with only carry on baggage. The key is planing - know what you will be doing and list what you need and then slim it down again and again until it fits in your carry on baggage. You don't need to sacrifice comfort - but most likely you'll have to be smart with your choice of clothes.

Packing Luggage Carry On for carry on only trips

Stage 1: Planning

Think through each day of your trip and note your activities and if your luggage carry on will be with you or not - add in a couple of senarios for out of the blue / serendipidous activities too. Plan out your clothes with these in mind - watersports? Sun shirt stinggoes? urban/outdoortrek? second set of hiking shoes. Addtional items for your basic toiletries kit (sunscreen?). Now revise the list and slim down any duplicates - for started you can only afford one pair of shoes, any jackets will more then likely have to worn onto the flight alone with long pants.

Stage 2: Packing

There are 4 main school of though for optimum packing of a bag, list here in rising order toward the most anal-retentive.

The stuff - The Fold - The roll - Bundling [ Baggage packing methods in detail ]

Regardless of which of these methods you use the finishing touch requires luggage carry on or baggage with internal compression straps to compress and hold your gear in place., ( All Caribee Carry on baggage and luggage comes with internal compression systems).

Stage 3: Revise

Are you happy with your packing efforts - weigh your carry on luggage and check your are within limits (the table on the right will help - always check with your airline to be sure!). If your cutting it fine or just wanting to travel with light baggage expect to make 3 to 4 repacks. Be tough with your self remember it's called carry on luggage because you'll be carrying it everywhere (unless you go for some fo the Caribee wheeled carry on luggage shown above). Typically people realise after a trip that they didnt need half the packed items.

If you're cutting it close to the weight limitswhy not upgrade your luggage to some Caribee lightweight luggage.
